delivery ALERT and RAG AND BONE JEANS PLEASE

Monday, April 30, 2012
Something just arrived on my desk.

Oh yes.. it was the TV antennae I ordered.  Hang on, WHAT TV ANTENNAE?

Oh... this kind.

My type of antennae! Tony Bianco; new and leather and just what I needed. $45 eBay. WOOP.

(Just in case you missed it.. the shoes were inside the box.  Just thought i would clear that fact up)

Was flicking through a two week old Famous in the lunch room over cold stirfry, and came across this pic of Leann Rimes.  Apart from Coyote Ugly I have little to do with Miss Rimes, but in this case I just had to perform a quick fashion find as THOSE JEANS ARE TO DIE FOR.

Lucky fashion finding is my thing.

The cheapest I can find these Rag and Bone Goetz leggings is on Revolveclothing.com, for $242.52.  NOT CHEAP ENOUGH I am afraid.  I will continue hunting.. stay tuned.  Just in case you are interested.. snap them up here: http://www.revolveclothing.com/DisplayProduct.jsp?product=RAGA-WJ51&c=rag+%26+bone%2FJEAN&d=5, then send me a pic of yourself wearing them and I shall be super jealous.

Day almost over... looks like I will make it through. FAB.

the couching is calling.. and so is Country Road apparently

Back at work today. MAJOR shock to the system; considering I have not been out of bed before 10am for the last six days, a 6:30 am wakeup call was not the nicest way to start the day.  Neither was the condensation breathing out of my mouth whilst eating breakfast at the dining table this morning.  It was 1 degree at 7 am.  OH how I love Ballarat in winter.

Needless to say – I am already exhausted.  Considering the most aerobic activity I conducted whilst recuperating was a (rather slow) walk around the block, getting up, dressed, hair and makeup and DRIVING to work was a massive feat.  I was then faced with the 456 emails that were politely waiting for me in my inbox (some highlighted with an aggressive subject in capital letters complete urgent flags… not so polite).  My brain is no longer functioning; I am desperate for my old friend the couch, heater and track pants.  I cannot take my tablets as they render me unable to drive and if I took them at work I would fall asleep at my desk and my stomach is hurting and WAH.

Okay – whinge time over. I did come in to work to this card that was strategically placed over my desk – it was there to cheer me up.

Hahaha – cheered.  Not sure why that pic is all blurry though.

Apart from the weird dreams I am having, I think the tablets are also influencing my purchasing decisions.  Yesterday.. I bought three Country Road/Trenery items.  Nothing wrong with that.. but I am not even a huge fan of Country Road; I find them to be a tad overpriced and dull.   AND - more disturbingly - the prices I paid for said items are really no different to what I would be able to find in store (or at least after rummaging around in the Bridge Road seconds store for a good hour or so). Not a bargain – not sure what is going on here.  Am I losing my bargain finding touch?  I certainly hope not – it is my livelihood; my best known trait (apart from my terrible singing voice.  That one I exercise rather loudly on most occasions – especially when the work radio is tuned in to Gold FM and it is playing 80’s soft rock!) .  I am blaming this on a temporary lapse in judgement due to too-strong painkillers (my doctor did warn me to make any important decisions whilst under the influence), which will pass in due course.  These are the items:

CR wedge - $50 eBay

CR cape sleeve tee - $42.55 eBay

Trenery longline sleeveless shirt - $25.45

See? Nothing exciting whatsoever.

I am tempted to buy these Shakuhachi leather and linen spliced high waisted pants:

Buy it now $50.. thoughts? Would I really wear them?

And also this Lanvin for H&M hot pink statement necklace:

Buy it now $69.. AMAZING colour.

Decisions decisions. I want both - may end up buying none.

Todays outfit.  Due to the fact it is freezing – this has heavily influenced my choice of outfit.  That and the fact that I still don’t feel 100% means I over-compensate and wear super high heels in a vain attempt to make myself feel better.  Not really sure if it is working.  Here:

So todays outfit is built around the most fabulous market score of March – the Thurley oversized draped cocoon coat ($40 Camberwell market.  Now, this item is definitely one of those ‘girl only’ items – boys just don’t get it.  BF was still in the house this morning when I was dressed and laughed out loud when he saw my coat.  LOL is not really the intended reaction I was going for – and I demanded he explain his response.  Apparently I look like I have stolen my year 9 art teacher’s weekend painting smock, and am wearing it backwards like a jacket.  Whatevs – he just doesn’t get it.  I love it).  This is worn over a Shakuhachi floral print cape top ($65 eBay – haven’t worn this one before.  Found it in my ‘Weekend only’ section of Wardrobe number 1 – and thought it could get some love in the smart business casual work rotation).  I then have the Levi skinny jeggings on (poor little babies are fading quite rapidly) and introducing some new tan wedges, from Siren.  I have had these for quite some time and they were my faves back in the fashion industry, but I feared they were too high for office wear.  After noticing the 10 inch platform heels as worn by half the accounts team here I have been motivated to take these lovelies out of retirement, and they are back in action.  Love the spliced heel detail.

SO that is today.   Added bonus of the cocoon coat is that it doubles as a makeshift dressing gown – I can wrap it around myself and close my eyes and pretend I am couch bound.  Ahhhh precious couch – how I miss you.

is it the weekend already?

Saturday, April 28, 2012
Okay so I know today is a Saturday and I don't usually post on Saturdays, but as I have not been to work now for almost the entire week all days are blurring into one, and the only reason I knew it was a Saturday was because the Hot 30 was on TV and I could overdose on One Direction.  God those boys are everywhere.

Not much to report.. this post will probably be dull and of little useful information.  I am still under house arrest thanks to the super strong painkillers kindly prescribed to me by my anaesthetist, which render me unable to drive.  Instead, I felt jaunty and went for a quick walk around the neighbourhood (highlight of my day).  Score - I found a fig tree growing over a back fence into a laneway (not as feral as it sounds, but yes I was lurking about in laneways) that was chock full of juicy ripe figs.  Fab.  Not having a plastic bag handy I loaded up the Marc Jacobs to the brim with said figs.  There is tomorrow's breakfast sorted.  Getting home, it appears I may have forgotten that juicy ripe figs ooze a lovely white sticky substance.  Which was now covering the inside of the MJ; the beautiful, gorgeous maroon suede leather lining.  C R A P.  Had I paid the $1700 RRP for this bag, perhaps I would be more careful about what I put inside it.  Or perhaps not.  Those figs are delicious.

So what else has been happening? It can't be just figs? Oh no.  I have also been busily photographing and uploading a whole stack of new items onto eBay.  Two benefits of selling things that I no longer wear and are sick of or that I haven't ever worn and are also sick of is clearing much needed space in the wardrobe room for new and super exciting fabulous purchases, and also to raise some much needed funds into my quite neglected Paypal account.  My 'only buying things with money from Paypal' challenge went out the window quite some time ago - so I thought I had better get that back on track.  Interested in buying some super cool and fabulous items?? Just in case - see below for the details.  Bidding is FUN findettes!

A little bit of shameless self-promotion never hurt anyone.  Now - the brogues are fabulous they just didn't fit me properly; the Gorman clogs I love love love but they are too big; the Frye ankle boots are about ten sizes too large; I have never worn the Richard Nicoll dress but it is so stunning and should go to a good home; the Sass and Bide jeans are a tad on the small side (UH OH); the Zimmermann pants are AHmazing but just not Ballarat-appropriate; the Shakuhachi dress is gorgeous but summer is over; and the two coats are both fab in their own ways - but I am getting a new Gorman camel coat for my birthday and I cannot justify having three camel coats.  There.  Interested? Click on the mini-links below and go nuts.

Once you all buy my items there will be some things I am looking at purchasing.  I have put two pairs of Mimco heels in my 'bag' which I fully intend on buying once items have sold.  These:

These are the 'Journey' pump and the 'Imperial' pump - perfect for 'smart business casual'.  At $89.95 and $99.95 respectively, these babies are definitely on my next -buy list.

Oh I did buy these off eBay yesterday.  Now - tell me what you think:

That was the image, and the description.  The heading of the listing was 'Sass and Bide leather look jeans'.  Am I insane? I did confirm with her that they were indeed Sass and Bide jeans... so I took a chance and snapped them up for $36.  That is what eBay is all about ladies.. living on the edge and taking a chance.  These could end up being these (this is what I am hoping - the pocket details look kind of similar??!):
Or, more than likely they will end up being crap and a total waste of money.  In that case - back on eBay or off to the market for you.  Circle of life yet again.

Think it is time for a nap - all this typing has worn me out.

Have a fabulous weekend x

I am back.. but is this the end? DO I LOVE TABLES

Thursday, April 26, 2012
So - I have not disappeared.  YES I do now that my previous post was Friday last week, which makes this almost an entire week gap between blog posting - to which I deeply apologise.  BUT - I do have a legitimate excuse (reason?) for my lack of posting (or even lack of getting out of bed).  Unfortunately, in this case it has been extenuating circumstances which have kept me away from the computer; or more accurately, a short trip to the hospital complete with a general anaesthetic which has really knocked me for six.  Never fear findettes, FFIFY is all good (hmm just how good I wonder when I am referring to myself  by a pseudonym and in the third person....) - just some routine preventative surgery and now I am on the road to recovery and perfect health.  I am still a tad woozy and under the influence of the anaesthetic mixed with panadeine forte, so please excuse me if this post is rambling or makes little or no sense.. well really then it would hardly be any different from my 180 other posts which are definitely long, rambling and non-sensical.  Ah.

SO - what has been happening in the fashion word whilst I have been asleep under the woollen blanket in front of the heater on the couch for the last three days?  MUCH?  Not much has happened in my Ebay account - I have been asked to limit my exposure to 'technological things that make me need to concentrate for long periods of time', which unfortunately pushed my plan of 10 hour straight eBay surfing out the window.  How else do they expect me to pass the time?  I did snap up a gorgeous little Lisa Ho floral printed shift dress for a cool $50 - here:

Isn't she beautiful? Although it is 12 degrees here today and misty raining and I need the full dressing gown, ugh boots and even beanie combo (this is why there has been no outfit posts this week - as this has been my main outfit each day everyday - HELLO trackies) to get from my bed to the lounge room (HEATER) so I don't think she will be making her debut appearance anytime soon.  But next summer... watch out! (I will try my darndest to not be sick of her by then.  I WILL TRY).

OOH - there are also a few fabulous sample sales going down from today onwards that I would just love love LOVE to pop into... but as I am not allowed to drive for a few days also I don't think I will be making an appearance.  PLEASE go on my account and tell me what wonderful, amazing and fabulous buys I am missing out on... hang on, on second thoughts just swing past Ballarat on your way down and come and get me.. much better plan.  Then we can attack these with gusto:

Both sound amazing.  Pick me up at ten? Done.

Apart from that quick buy and those amazing sales - there has been nothing else... NO.  I AM LYING TO YOU ALL.  BE HONEST FFIFY (there I go again) THERE ARE OTHER ITEMS YOU ARE KEEPING SECRET.

Okay okay - it would seem my inner conscience is begging me to open up about my other purchases.  Okay, yes there has been 'other purchases' which have occurred over the weekend and this week.  I will confess.  BUT - they are unrelated to this blog.  BUT again, they might have an even bigger impact on this blog than you would think... as I have been cheating on fashion with interior design.

There.  I said it.  It wasn't so hard now was it?  And in fact.. I have been dying to tell you guys about the amazing items I have nabbed for the house.  It is still fashion in a way.. it is just not something you can wear right?  But your house is technically wearing it so it is still being worn and therefore fashionable.  Hmm I think I need to rethink that argument a little better.  Anyway - the bf has finally sold his other house... which means we finally have the funds to begin renovations on our little Victorian fixer-upper.  FAB.  Although the majority of the works won't be completed until oh a year or so away - I am jumping the gun a little and designing each room piece by piece, colour scheme by colour scheme.  Really - it is just like putting an outfit together - mixing and matching colours, prints and textures til you find a combination that works.  We are going for the 'retro-vintage' theme - combining a mix of fifties retro prints and colours with the smooth lines of Danish style furniture, with some amazing heavy leather pieces thrown in for good measure.  This is what I have collected in the last six days:

mounted roe deer head - $82 eBay (present for the bf - he is obsessed with these?!)

salt and pepper cow hide rug - $202.50 eBay

danish eames style dining table - $160 eBay

retro fifties style mantle clock - $80 collectables shop in Myrtleford

Pretty exciting huh?

Usually - there is a stack of Shop, Marie Claire, Harpers and Grazia gracing my coffee table, but these have now been replaced by the below:

Now, instead of cutting out pics to add to my outfit inspiration boards (UM yes I do have these.. 'weekend - day', 'weekend - night', 'corporate', 'boho vintage' and even 'yachting slash boating' gets a page), I have created a design folio full of room by room inspiration ideas. I plan to have every room completely designed and arranged before it is even built, so I can source exactly the items needed in order to play '60 minute makeover' and race around styling them super quick once ready.  FUN.  Whatever is happening to me?  Well - I have spoken to a few home owner fashion loving friends about this phenomenon, and it appears I am not alone.  There comes a time in a fashionista's life where she must decide between interior design and fashion, as money constraints do not usually allow for both.  And in my case, they most certainly do not.  Am I taking the house path?  Will this be the end for my love of fashion?  Does this mean the blog is over?

Absolutely not.  I don't think I could ever give up buying clothes - it is the love of my life.  I will make it work.  Watch me.  I can have the best wardrobe in the best dressed house - I can totally do it... OH I sure hope so..............

beige is beautiful - no matter what they say.

Friday, April 20, 2012
Feeling much better today – hooray.  Will never be eating salmon again, that is a definite.

DELIVERY ALERT:

Contains – 1x Husk raw leather jacket in beige, and 1x White Suede peach mod stretch lace dress.  One what I hear you say?? OHH yes, I am yet to update you all with this purchase.  This is her:
So I stumbled across this beauty whilst in the midst of the ‘lace dress from Tumblr’ find I undertook the other day.  Although it was sadly not white and thus could not be included in the results, luckily for me it was peach and in my size and thus could be included in my personal spending as it is just gorgeous.  Found it on the White Suede website (http://www.whitesuede.com) in their sale section.. reduced from $420 to $199.  It was love at first sight...  I just had to have it.   And now it is here.  WOOT.  I think it’s first outing can be for my birthday, which is just over a month away.  IT IS ALMOST MY BIRTHDAY.
Apart from that – no new news on the spending front.  Checked out the Gorman sale yesterday from the comfort of the couch, and was almost tempted to snatch up the following gorgeous linen shift dress:
As it is on sale for a teensy little $70.  BUT, in a rare display of restrainment, I refrained.  It is coming up to winter, and I just don’t think there will be any nice weather wear worthy moments coming up anytime soon, and then by next summer I will be so over it.  Even if I have never worn it.  That is just the way my mind works unfortunately.
Todays outfit:

So today I wanted to introduce the vintage brogues which landed on my desk the other day.  They are really gorgeous, but are such a pale beige colour that it is actually proving quite tricky to find things to match them with… when I have to team them with black pants.  If you were to insert blue jeans into the above outfit – the overall result would be a vast improvement.

Anyway – outfit includes: Bettina Liano white and cream lace tank ($20 Bettina Liano sample sale), worn under a light beige Witchery woollen draped cardi ($NO IDEA had it for ages.  Never really wear it and just decided to put it on today.  I do feel a bit too matchy matchy.. but thems the breaks) and then just for a bit of added interest I also added the Museum beige fur vest ($80 eBay – yes I am trying to include this beauty in just about every outfit as I am so in love this its furry creamy goodness. Again – as if I could wear real rabbit fur to work at a Pet retailer – so, coming off).  All worn over the Levis ‘not so wetlook anymore thanks to overwear and wash fade’ jeggings (think it is definitely time for a new pair) and then finished off with the vintage brogues.  Whoever said beige was boring?

NOT ME.

Have a fabulous weekend findettes – shop up a storm, and then don’t forget to share your purchases! Head to the Dion Lee sample sale, Marcus B is also sample saling it up and then dont forget to check out Gorman.  Unfortunately for me, there will be no shopping this weekend.  Bright is not the fashion capital of North East Victoria, surprisingly enough.

attack of the killer salmon.. and find it for me - TUMBLR lace dress

Thursday, April 19, 2012
So.  It appears my dream run in the kitchen has come to an end; farewell newly-forged Masterchef career path.  Although I would like to shift the blame from my amazing cooking skills and onto another much more likely option - that we have been deliberately poisoned.  It appears (to me - bf is not on board with this suggestion) that there may be a 'wicked stepmother' figure down at the local Woolies who has attempted to harm myself and the bf, through not-fit-for-human-consumption salmon.  One word - ewwww.  Second word - bathroom.  The rest will not be shared - ever.

Hence the lack of outfit post - as work was not on the revised agenda for today.  Neither was food, the blog or even being awake or barely alive really.  I don't think salmon will ever be on the menu again. WAH.

BUT - there is light at the end of the tunnel - I do have a post.  Here is one I prepared earlier:

TADA.

So, when this find came through I did think it was rather mission impossible.  All I had to go on was an image from Tumblr of a girl in a white lace dress - 'find me that dress' was the request.  Hmmmm, this one was going to be tough.  Exactly how tough I found out two seconds later, when I uncovered a particularly super helpful fact.  Turns out the gorgeous girl in the image (Anna) had a blog.  FAB.  Turns out this blog is written entirely in Russian.  OH.  Not so fab.  For some reason my google translater has seem to have vanished off the face of my webpage.. so I was stuck.  Next resort - googling 'white lace dress'.  Okay - a definite stretch I know, but I was desperate.  Then... LUCK.  Found the exact dress (a stunning albeit very short 3.1 by Phillip Lim lace shift), and even a chain store copy version (thank you Mango).  Although both options are sadly sold out on their respective designer sites - hit up eBay; guaranteed either one will turn up sooner or later.  Also threw in a couple of other suggestions for good measure (from French Connection and Laundry by Shelli Segal), plus a some local brands that would be worth popping into (White Suede, Fleur Wood and Jayson Brunsdon I am talking about you - you all are masters at rocking a lace shift dress).  Read on.. and share your thoughts xx

LOVING that peachy-gold outfit combination above; that jacket is TDF.

Keep on sending in those finds - they have been super fabulous and interesting and tons of fun.  ALL GOOD STUFF.

Getting excited about the first ever fashion find it for you super mega most amazing giveaway of the century?  Hope so - its going to be a cracker.
