Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without eBay. I know that may sound utterly ridiculous to many people (bf being one of them!) but OH I know there are certainly a few crazies out there who – just like me – are absolutely addicted. Literally. Not a day goes by where I don’t check my eBay app on my I-phone; or peruse my saved searches on the computer (although never at work. Oh no. That is certainly not me. I am super dedicated 100% on the job focussed hard worker ;). At least four times a week the mailman brings be a lovely gift from anywhere across the globe, and there is not a single day where I am not wearing something sourced on eBay (like right now, for example, skirt, shoes and bag – all eBay. It is the same every day). I can say with one hundred and fifty percent conviction that eBay is the best technological invention ever created (well - after the computer. If there was no computer there wouldn’t be an eBay – so I guess that makes the computer pretty good. Oh then being really specific I assume we need to include the i-phone into that list.. otherwise how could I check my eBay account from anywhere in the world at any time of day? I couldn’t, and that would be a damn shame. So then, to re-phrase, after the computer and the I-phone eBay is the best technological invention ever created). BIG statement.
Need proof? Fine. Here it is – via shoes (a language I am sure most of us speak fluently):
Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony tan platform ‘Mary Jane’ boots – RRP $495. EBAY = $200
SO – the bottom line. Total RRP for all the above = $1834. Total cost from eBay = $379.99. Which then leads to a whopping TOTAL SAVING = $1454.01. Woot. You could only buy one pair of the above shoes for the same price that you could buy all four on eBay. ALL FOUR.
Convinced yet?
Needless to say – this does lead to a few spending issues. Primarily, one becomes accustomed to a certain level of garment, and cannot no longer wear items that do not hold a minimum of $500+ in store value. Basically – shopping in real stores becomes something of the past. As an example – I am looking for a dress to wear to a wedding, with a $200 budget. Un-addicted eBay people would probably head to Myer or another similar department store, and nab a floaty little number from Wish or Cooper St and still get some change to purchase a matching ring from Diva. Now – there is absolutely nothing wrong with this (Wish has some really cute things) BUT to me the eBay equivalent value of a Wish dress is no more than fifty dollars. Even if new. Max. For $200 – I could get myself a $1000 Ellery cocktail dress, or at least a $600 Zimmermann silk maxi, and (if I am having a really good eBay day) more than likely a matching leather clutch or waist belt. And, all from the comfort of my lounge room (or car, or desk, or walking the dog, or just about anywhere my I-phone gets reception) – no shops involved. Its magic. Once you pass through the looking glass into eBayland.. there is no turning back. It is a whole new world. Come and join me findettes.. you definitely wont regret it.
Okay – so moving on to today’s outfit. I have just been warned by the bureau of meteorology that this will more than likely be the last sunny day Ballarat is going to see until at least October/November (how grand) so I decided to make the most of it by skirting it up. Here:
Today’s outfit is chain store goodness (with a little help from old mate eBay no doubt) so Sportsgirl raspberry poly pocket front shirt ($35 in store on sale Sportsgirl – fab colour that I just don’t wear enough), tucked into a Sportsgirl nude maxi skirt ($60 eBay – GOD I love this skirt. It sold out in stores before I could nab one.. but as always eBay came to the rescue and I managed to snap up one in my size for a cool $60… love it), which is then finished off with Country Road Niko tan wedges. OOOHHHH lala. Bye bye sun.
Yes - there is a weird shaped photo in the middle.. trying out a new way to show outfits. Thoughts?
Now – you know what would look absolutely fab with this outfit? THIS:
Yes it is the old fave J.Crew turquoise necklace. I don’t wear it to work as it is much to OTT for ‘smart business casual’ – but the colour would really POP against the raspberry shirt. NOW – here is the exciting part… I am going to embark on the VERY FIRST FASHION FIND IT FOR YOU GIVEAWAY EVER – and it may or may not involve a J.Crew necklace (I will give you a hint.. it most definitely does).
STAY TUNED – details coming soon… get EXCITED! Who doesn't like free stuff?
