find it for me - Vicky Pattison's oversized shearling coat

Wednesday, April 11, 2012
Here is another Vicky Pattison fashion find - I have them coming out of my ears.  Still having not watched the show I remain rather clueless to her, her bf and the rest of the gang she shares a house with.. if that is how it works? Kind of like a big brother without the whole viewer interaction thing?

I will be honest - this find was hard.  It had (and still has!) me stumped.. as there is little to no info on what Miss P is actually wearing.  At least this time I managed to get not one but two whole images of her in the said jacket, which is a great start.  And then, that was as far as I got.  I had even resorted to tweeting Vick herself (no response.... shut down).   I made some assumptions based on my ever-growing knowledge of her shopping habits: it would be faux suede, and from a chain in the high st.  I searched Topshop, Zara, H&M et al - to no avail.  So - fashion fail. I could not locate her exact jacket.

BUT (and there is always a positive findettes!) I have located some super similar jackets from across the globe.  Admittedly none of them are exactly the same, but there are similar colours, similar styles and I even threw in a luxurious real-fur option for good measure.  Take a look:
Shearling is really a trend that doesnt seem to be going anyway fast.  For a cheaper and just as chic option.. try your local chain store.  The faux fur may not be as fluffy or and snuggly as their real fur relatives.. but they are a little easier on your bank balance.  My advice? Go vintage.  This look was around forty years ago, channel your inner seventies love child or raid your mothers closest. If, like me, your mother has conveniently disposed of all the mega-cool items she used to have, check out etsy (http://www.etsy.com).  I could literally spend hours (and HAVE) trawling the pages full of the most amazing vintage items.  'Shearling coat' itself brings up 24 pages of pure vintage gold - and at very reasonable prices.  I have actually bought my own 'almost famous' version from etsy a year ago - check her out here:

I call her Penny Lane.  I don't actually get to take her out much; need the right environment and regional Victoria doesn't always provide that (stares and smirks HELLO), but still.  She is absolutely stunning.  On the rare occasion she comes out it is certainly a fun time had by all.

Still more Vicky P to come... GET EXCITED.
