did someone say... SAMPLE SALE??

So now I'm going to talk about the second love of my life (removing my BF and puppy from the equation of course) – SAMPLE SALES! I think this affliction has been compounded by working for fashion retailers – who hold quarterly sales of excess samples and seconds, selling them off for oh anywhere between $5-$50.  UM $50 for a Witchery leather jacket? I think SO.  So upon hearing the news that another sample sale was going to be held – immediately I would start to calculate how I can live on $50 for the next two weeks including rent in order to save up enough to basically buy the entire sale by myself.  Okay so I was never as bad as to elbow people out of the way at the starting line pre-opening (YES this did happen – we all know who I'm talking about!) – but yes I did RACE (definition: very fast paced walking) in to quickly nab the leather items asap (of which I had secretly memorized their location by selflessly offering to help set up pre-sale).  While many fellow employees were carrying a few items over their arms, there I was dragging around a cardboard packing box full of goodies. Not a bag – I needed an entire box. 

Sadly for me – those days are now over.  We have had a similar sample giveaway here at my new place of employment – but unfortunately pet supplies doesn’t excite me or my wallet anywhere near as much. The day I found out my previous employer was having a sample sale and I couldn’t attend was one of the saddest on record. Some of the girls there didn’t even want to tell me as they knew just how devastated I would be.

BUT there is a silver lining.  Although I may not be able to attend these mid-week on-site employee only any longer (god DAMN) – there are still many other designer sample sales out there just waiting for me and my money.  And thanks to websites like Missy Confidential (http://www.missyconfidential.com.au), I never miss a thing.  Missy provides a free sample sale service – each Wednesday a newsletter pops into my inbox highlighting every sample/clearance sale that is happening in my fair city (okay I know I am no longer a Melburnian and cannot run down the road to Chapel on my lunchbreak but its only 1.2 hours down the road – piece of cake) – so I can plan my weekend accordingly. Yes there has been times when I have been tempted to fly off to Sydney to attend the once a year Sass and Bide sample sale; but luckily for me Melbourne actually gets the majority of best sales.  My recommendations? Sign yourself up now. You never know if you never go..

This is the best they have at the mo (sample sales need holidays too) – but who doesn’t love Husk???
