So driving to work this morning and that wonderful little computerised thermometer on the Citroen said (well actually it read – its not a whizbang talking one) ‘Outside temperate – 9 degrees’. Now, usually I don’t put too much faith in the accuracy of said thermometer, for if you were to take its word for gospel there have been a few days this summer where it has been over 50 degrees – in Ballarat. Uh, I think not. It’s not the Sahara. But, unfortunately I think Citroen was having a on day, as the i-phone quickly confirmed that it was indeed 9 degrees in sunny old B-town. In the the middle of January. It shouldn’t really come as too much of a surprise, as I have quickly learnt that summer doesn’t come to Ballarat. Like - ever.
So any previous thoughts on summery work-appropriate outfits went out the window the minute I awoke to pelting rain drumming on the roof. BIG PLUS - I didn’t have to walk the dog; BIG CON - today was a hair wash day. Bummer. Total waste of time as it was guaranteed to get saturated on car to office runs.. and having already put it off from oversleeping the day before I just couldn’t leave it. So was running very late this morning as hair washing, playing with the dog inside (kelpie = energy – minus morning walk = INSANE) plus 9 degree appropriate outfit selection took up much more time than I had allocated to my pre-work getting ready period. Hence the lateness of my first post.
On the bright side – this lovely weather did give me the chance to showcase the new Sass and Bide silk leopard print jacket that arrived last week. Initially I believed this to be a little OTT for my ‘smart business casual’ attired office, but after putting together those five outfits last week I have changed my thinking and taken it out for a run today. This is it:
Wednesday consists of: Sass + Bide leopard print silk blazer ($70 eBay – first time wear yeoww), Manning Cartell cream ruffle front tunic ($85 eBay – a little pricier than what I wanted to spend on it but true HERO piece), Levi black shine jeggings (now these do not sound appealing at all – but fact is these babies have replaced my Camilla and Marc Selma and Freddie pants (clarification: wet-look panelled leggings of which I am NOT able to wear to work) as they are super skinny but still considered as black pants – and therefore work-appropriate. Bang. On sale in store $100 Myer) then topped off with these super soft Country Road tan leather brogues (DFO CR $29 on sale). Okay admittedly I did swap the brogues for ballet flats once the outfit was applied... feel like the brogues just pushed me into OTT territory. Now - all good.
