mondays look and skirt attack challenge

Monday, February 6, 2012
Having recovered from the ‘best weekend ever’ I was looking forward to creating an outfit using one of the new purchases from over the weekend.  Initial go-to item was the leather dress – but even I know whilst gorgeous how ridiculously inappropriate that would be for my ‘smart business casual’ attired office.  Dont worry - I’ll save you for the weekend my love   Looking through what I bought – again it became apparent that there was a trend to my items.  Last week it was nude shirts (four buys in four days), and this week it seems to be… skirts.  I bought five skirts over the weekend.  Hmmm.   Do I need five new skirts?  That is a rhetorical question that does not require an answer – because of course I do.  But still – five skirts.  That is one for every day of the week.  Aha – is that a challenge??  I accept.  Each skirt will get a workout on each day of the week.

Today is Monday – and Monday is striped Witchery tube skirt. Taking inspiration from their campaign images featuring the prominent-eyebrowed Bambi, this is what I came up with:

So as I don’t quite have Bambi’s lovely figure – tucking in a skin-tight black singlet and prancing around the office were totally out of the question.. most unfortunate.  Instead – I kept with the black pairing and added in a splash of crisp white to break up the look.  So – outfit is made up of: Witchery blue/grey/black striped pencil skirt ($20 Camberwell market), with a tucked in Richard Chai Love white silk tee($30 eBay – LOVE this top from American label) , with Witchery fluid black blazer thrown over ($65 in-store Witchery DFO – this guy has been in my ironing basket for the duration of the blog – thought it was time to whip him out, dust him off, iron him up and wallah! The cooler 21 degree weather helped with this decision) and them tied together with Seed Femme black ankle boots ($45 eBay – first time wear for these babies, love the chunky look with the skirt).

I am rather pleased with today’s creation – definitely a colour combo I rarely delve into (what??! No nude??) but overall bright and fresh.

Looking forward to creating the rest of the week’s ‘skirt attack’ challenge – bring it.
